Donald B. Reed, 65 of Ririe, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at Lily & Syringa Assisted Living in Idaho Falls.
Don was born May 17, 1951, in Rigby, Idaho to Gale A. Reed and Delila Stitt Reed. He was raised and attended schools in Ririe, graduating from Ririe High School in 1969. He continued his education at Ricks College. He worked on the family farm and dairy, which he loved; he also built homes with his brother Bob and served as Maintenance Supervisor for BYU-I. Don was married to Karen Marie Rainsdon for 14 years they had 4 children together and later divorced. On May 3, 1997, he married Jolynn Peterson Clayton in Ririe, Idaho.
Don was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young man he served a full-time mission in The Central States Mission, he also served as Elders Quorum President, High Priests Group Leader, and Sunday School Teacher. Don served as a Fire Commissioner, serving the needs of the fire fighters of the Central Fire District for 15 years. He enjoyed camping, boating, fly fishing on the river with his dad, riding his 4-wheeler and driving the old John Deere tractor. He liked westerns, and his impersonation of John Wayne was a favorite of all who knew him. He loved being with family and friends; joking around and making them laugh.
He is survived by his father, Gale Reed, of Ririe; wife, Jolynn C. Reed, of Ririe; daughters, Robyn (Tyler) Hobbs, of Saratoga Springs, UT; Lannon Jo (Layne) Kinghorn of Rigby, Holly Lynn (Jared) Larsen of Rigby, Brittany Ann (Bill) Wolf of Idaho Falls, Heidi Alissa (Corey) Jennings, of Idaho Falls; sons, Corey (Katherine) Reed, of Cedar Hills, UT, Greg (Cara) Reed, of Cedar Hills, UT, Eric (Lindsay) Reed, of Saratoga Springs, UT; sisters, Janice (Ron) Squire, of Heber, AZ, Carolyn Reed, of Logan, UT, Rosemary Dixon, of Pocatello, Loralee Lovell, of Ririe; brother, Robert (Diane) Reed, of Mountain Village, Alaska, and 37 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Delila Reed.
Don’s family express their sincere gratitude to Solace Hospice nursing staff, Lily & Syringa Assisted Living, Homestead Assisted Living and the High Priests and Elders of Ririe 2nd Ward.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 26, 2016 at Ririe Stake Center 14061 N. 130 E., Ririe. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Ririe Stake Center and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, prior to services both at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
