Donald Davis Sucher

Donald Davis Sucher, of Rigby, passed away in Rigby, Monday, January 31, 2005. Don was born July 12, 1920 at Carleton, Thayer County, Nebraska a son of Ray William Sucher and Sylvia Caroline Morrow Sucher. As a child he attended grade school in Nebraska. The family moved to Idaho when he was a sophomore. He attended Roberts High School and graduated from Ucon High School, where he loved to play basketball and baseball. In March of 1942 he married Nina Miles in Preston, Idaho and joined the Army Air corp in August of that same year. They lived in Salt Lake City and then returned to Rigby. After he returned from the service his first employment was with Broulims. He then started his own dairy and also raised Charolais cattle. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was a member of the American International Charolais Association. He worked as a Fresh Potato Production Manager for Ucon Produce and Pro-Ida in Ririe. He was President of Jefferson County Stampede for several years. He spent many hours in his woodworking shop, and loved to watch sports of all kinds. He loved his family around him, especially his grandchildren. They will miss his wit, love and concern. He is survived by his wife Nina Sucher of Rigby, 2 daughters: Peggy Taylor and Paula (Dell) Jensen both of Idaho Falls; one son Don Sucher Jr. of Aberdeen Washington; 2 sisters: Naomi Wilson of Rigby and Norma Wienholtz of Sahuarita, Arizona, 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Willard and a granddaughter Tammy. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 5, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. in the Rigby 4th Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Rex E. Miller officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel and on Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Military rites will be performed by the Jefferson Veterans Team.
