Donald C. Walker

February 21, 1931 — February 8, 2008

Donald Carlos Walker, 76, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away February 8, 2008 at his home in Lewisville. Donald was born February 21, 1931 in Lewisville, Idaho to William B. Walker and Evelyn Gerard Walker. He grew up in Lewisville where he attended grade school. He graduated from Midway High School in 1949 where he participated in football and FFA taking honors with his livestock. Donald married Marjorie Goody on January 30, 1952 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary last week. As a member of the LDS church he served as Young Men’s President and Sunday School Superintendent. He served as president of the Sauer Lateral, director on the Deer Parks Canal, and chairman of the Jefferson County Drainage District. Donald served as a livestock 4-H leader for many years and helped the Country Cousins 4-H club prepare for the Idaho Junior Fat Livestock Show. Donald loved the soil and raised potatoes, grain, alfalfa and sugar beets on his Lewisville and Menan farms. His strong work ethic and desire to develop and improve land brought him great satisfaction. In addition to farming, Donald operated ranches in Kilgore, the Jenkins Well in Fremont County and forest allotment in Island Park. He oversaw cattle drives and roundups, each spring and fall for several years. He took pride in his Hereford cattle and was invited to serve as a judge at the Montana Winter Fair many times. He enjoyed attending Hereford bull sales. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren and sharing in their activities and accomplishments. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Walker of Lewisville, sons, Gary D. Walker of Lewisville and Robert K. Walker of Menan, daughters, Debbie Hamilton of Idaho Falls, Marilyn and Dianne both of Lewisville, grandsons Justin R. Hamilton of Logan, Utah and Brian R. Walker of Menan and granddaughter Danae Lee Walker of Menan, sister, Lola W. Robison of Ammon, brother, Darryl N. (Janeale) Walker of Lewisville and sister-in-law, Patricia Walker of Lewisville.
