DonEtta May Housley, 85 of Ririe, died Friday, October 16, 2009, at Idaho Falls Care and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born September 1, 1924, in Rigby, to Donald Owen Garton and Emily Jane Cordon Garton.
On October 21, 1944, she married LaWyane H. Housley, in Rigby; their marriage was solemnized March 25, 1965, in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple.
She worked as a cook at Sacred Heart Hospital and Country Diner in Rigby, and also prepared banquets for many organizations, such as VFW and DUP.
She taught herself to crochet and did crochet work for many friends, relatives, and donated her crochet work to LDS Temples. DonEtta loved to put together puzzles, gardening, and especially loved camping and fishing.
She is survived by her son, DeeLynn (LaHoma) Housley, of Idaho Falls, sisters, Virginia Young, of Blackfoot, Phronia Richins, of Moses Lake, Washington, 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Lorrie Ann Housley, son, LaWayne Jess Housley, three sisters, and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at the Ririe LDS Stake Center, 14061 N. 130 E., Ririe, the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, prior to services at the stake center. Burial will be in the Grant Central Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
