Donna Handy, age 84 of Dubois, Idaho passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015, in Dubois.
Donna was born December 18, 1930 in Stockton, California to Walter and Freda Jacoby. Donna was an only child. After graduating high school Donna married Frank Handy on October 16, 1949 in Carson City, Nevada. Together they had three children.
In 1968 the family moved from California to the Mud Lake area, where Frank farmed. Donna had various jobs throughout her life, among them after moving to Idaho she became a State of Idaho Seed Potato Inspector, a job which she held for several years. In 1994 Frank and Donna moved to Dubois, Idaho where Donna and Paula Marts opened a gift shop together a business they both loved and had fun doing, due to health problems they had to close the shop. Donna had a very special place in her heart for the Heritage Hall Museum in Dubois where she served on the board of directors until the time of her death.
Donna enjoyed crafts and sewing, making dolls for all her great grandkids and friends were among one of the pleasures she loved doing. Donna also had a love for bird houses and frogs if you were ever on her front porch you could witness it firsthand.
On June 3, 1997 she lost the love of her life, they were married for 47 years. Donna has gone to be with dad now, she had a hard time saying goodbye, now she can say hello again. We love you both and you both will be greatly missed.
Donna is survived by three children, Craig Handy of Dubois, Steven (Sharon) Handy of Miles City, Montana and Becky Nordstrom of Idaho Falls. Donna has 7 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Donna is preceded in death by her husband Frank and her parents Walter and Freda Jacoby.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Dubois Community Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Warren Cuppy officiating. The family will meet with friends prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:45 at the church. Burial will be in the Dubois Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Hall Museum in Donna’s name (P.O. Box 53 Dubois, Idaho 83423. The family expresses a very special thanks to Marie Kellom and Schnoodle (Donna’s four legged friend) for always being there for us and helping take care of Donna. Marie mom loved you very much.
