Donna Marie Niederer, 96, of Sunnydell, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2013.
She was born February 27, 1917, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a daughter of Mahlon Joseph and Olive Thomas Sherd.
She married Gordon Niederer of Sunnydell, on September 18, 1943, in the Sherd family home in Michigan. Following Gordon’s discharge from the military, they settled in Sunnydell, Idaho and worked together to establish Niederer Dairy.
Donna enjoyed farm life and found great contentment tending to the needs of her family and the farm. She also took pleasure in crocheting, quilting and composing poetry. Several of Donna’s dearest friendships were formed through her participation in the “Happy Hookers” crocheting group.
Donna was baptized a member of the LDS Church in the fall of 1953 and enjoyed serving in several different capacities. On June 19, 1963, she was sealed to Gordon and their children for time and all eternity in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple.
Surviving are her sons, Dennis Niederer (Linda), Emil Niederer (Kathy), and Paul Niederer (Eva) all of Sunnydell, a daughter-in-law, Mae Niederer of Sunnydell, 16 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Colleen Niederer, her son, Phillip Niederer, her husband Gordon Niederer, a grandchild, Kevin Niederer, a great grandchild, Makyla Jordyn Niederer, and her parents and five siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 30th, at the Archer/Sunnydell LDS Church. Friends may call from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby and from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery in Archer. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
