Doris Lorraine Womack, 89, of Blackfoot, died March 11, 2015 at the Homestead Assisted Living in Rexburg.
Doris was born May 8, 1925 in Groveland, Idaho the daughter of Malvern Leroy Wallace and Mary Maude Walker Wallace. Doris was raised on her family’s homestead ranch on Graves Creek 25 miles east of Blackfoot near the Blackfoot River. She married Almo Bud Womack on October 8, 1942 in Blackfoot. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple on January 28, 1953.
She loved the mountains and the farm life. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after she was married and raised her eight children in the gospel and served in the relief society, young women’s, and was a Cub Scout den mother. Doris and Bud served as missionaries in Arkansas and also served as missionaries at Deseret Industries in Blackfoot. She will always be remembered for her huge gardens and all the homemade quilts and crafts she made and gave away. She was a kind and serving mother, friend and neighbor.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Dianna Lynne Gleed of Rose, Idaho, Dorena Faye (Ron) King of Elizabethtown, PA., daughter-in-law, Jueun Womack of Severn, Maryland, sons, Barry (Linda) Womack of Chicago, Illinois, Wesley (Jennifer) Womack of Pocatello, LaVerl (Kaye) Womack of Rigby, DeRay (Shawna) Womack of Firth, LaVon (Rebecca) Womack of Tucson, AZ., sister Lenore Jensen of Firth, Verna Olsen of Rexburg, Leora (Don) Bergevin of St. George, Utah, Leola Roberts of Blackfoot, Nettie (Delbert) Baron of Blackfoot, Peggy Wallace of Blackfoot, Brother, Malvern S. Wallace of Blackfoot, 25 grandchildren, 75 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, husband Almo, sons, Teddy Leroy Womack, Brice Todd Womack, grandsons, Jacob Womack, Adam Valdez, son-in-law John Gleed and sister Jesse Dawn Rotramel.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2015, at the Rose Ward Church (403 N. 150 W. Blackfoot) with Bishop Greg Nickell conducting. The family will visit with friends on Sunday evening from 7:00 -8:30 p.m. and prior to the service on Monday from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. both at the church. Burial will be in the Grove City Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
