Dorma Lou Johnson

Dorma Lou Johnson, of Rigby, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg. Dorma was born February 11, 1935 in Preston, Idaho. She married Joel A. Johnson Sr. on October 30th, 1953 and was blessed with 5 children. They later divorced. She worked for a period of time at Broulim’s grocery store in Rexburg after which she worked at Tautphaus Park Zoo for 12 years. She was owner of the Powder Puff Beauty Salon with one of her best friends and sister-in-law, Janis Blair. But most of all she was a mother and home-maker. Dorma was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a member of the Rigby Lions Club. Dorma loved animals, especially her dogs, Sammi and Miley. She enjoyed visiting with people and would spend hours in Wal-Mart. She loved family get-togethers, long lunches, yard sales, flowers and jewelry. She also loved springtime and Christmas was her favorite holiday. She is survived by her daughters, Christa (Justin) Horkley, of Rigby, Valerie Johnson (Greg) Tremelling, of Idaho Falls, sons, Joel A. (Jane) Johnson Jr., Mark (Pauline) Johnson, both of Rigby, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Darla Jo Johnson, her parents Annorah Taylor, and Gail Cyrus Andreasen, and sisters, Lucille Jones of Blackfoot, Idaho, and Ila Mae Christensen of Henderson, Nevada. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, June 24th, 2016 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will receive friends from 10am to 10:45am, prior to services at the funeral home. People may also come to Eckersell Memorial Chapel from noon to 6pm on June 23rd to pay their respects. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
