Dorothy Helena Burkman

Dorothy Helena Burkman, 77 of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Dorothy was born August 13, 1942 in Archer, Idaho to Blueford Hopper and Jane L Weekes Hopper. She was raised and attended schools in Archer and Thornton, and graduated from Madison High School. She married Thomas Howard; they later divorced. On November 3, 1979, she married Kenneth A. Burkman in Ammon, Idaho. He preceded her in death February 15, 1998.

In her adult life, she lived in Idaho Falls, Ammon and Basalt and worked as a house keeper, for Good Samaritan Nursing Center in the laundry, and for Croft Potatoes in Firth as a general laborer.

Dorothy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed being part of the CB Club. She had many past-times including fishing, embroidering, crocheting, going for drives, reading, word search puzzles, watching western movies, collecting fridge magnets and was diligent at keeping a daily journal.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane Ann Burkman-Palmer of Boise, ID; sons, Don W (Marie) Burkman of Dubois, Wade Thomas (Pauline) Burkman of Pocatello; sisters, Glenna Danielson of Lewisville, Jolene Holmes of St. Anthony; brothers, Dan Joe (Teresa) McRae of Rexburg, Bart (Trixie) McRae of Rexburg; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth A. Burkman, and sons, Luther Howard and David Howard.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 21, 2019 at Eckersell Funeral Home, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to the memorial service. Interment will take place at Burton Cemetery at a later date.
