Dorothy Mae Downs, age 76, of Shelley, died at her home Sunday, June 1, 2008. She was born March 1, 1932, at Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter to Norman Fryer and Flora Duncan Fryer. She attended schools in Hamer, Idaho. She married Jesse Gale Downs April 13, 1949 at Roberts, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She drove school bus in Hamer for many years. She was a member of the LDS Church and served as a Sunday School Teacher and for 7 years served as camp director in the Rigby Stake. She enjoyed dancing, crocheting, quilting, cooking, traveling throughout the U.S. and Alaska and flower gardening. She is survived by her husband Gale Downs of Shelley, children Sherry Hope, Glenda Downs, Connie Downs and Julie Conrad all of Idaho Falls and Farrel Downs of Hamer, a sister LaRae Peacok of Idaho Falls and a brother Harry Rawson of St. Anthony, 19 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, 1 son and 1 great grandson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home 110 West Oak Street in Shelley. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, in Shelley. Interment will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
