Dorothy Mae Hansen age 83, of Thornton died Thursday, January 3, 2008, at her home. Dorothy was born on May 3, 1924 in Thornton, Idaho a daughter of Edward and Hazel Anderson Briggs.
Dorothy, “Dot” grew up in Thornton Idaho and graduated 8th grade from Union School in Independence and attended Rigby High School. She married George Fredrick Hansen July 8, 1959 in Anaconda Montana. They were later divorced. Dorothy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked for Union Pacific Railroad during WWII and then at Wilcox and Son’s in Thornton for many years. She loved embroidery, reading, camping, and picking huckleberries.
She is survived by two sons: Thayne L. Hansen, and Clayne Ramon Hansen and one daughter: Georgia Dawn Hansen, all of Thornton. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Roy, Lennis, Merlin, and Gary Briggs and one sister: Maxine Briggs Hansen.
Funeral Services will be held Monday January 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rexburg Idaho South Stake Center, 2041 West 5200 South. The family will visit with friends Sunday evening at Eckersell Memorial Chapel from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Internment will be at Sutton Cemetery.
