Dorothy Gail Miller Horel, 75 of Lewisville, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at her home.
Dorothy was born May 10, 1943 in Driggs, Idaho to Gail Jay Miller and Dona Lee Byrne Miller. She was raised and attended schools in Worland, Wyoming, graduating from Worland High School. On February 6, 1963, she married Don Wayne Horel in Dayton, Ohio; their marriage was solemnized August 23, 1971 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They were blessed with 3 children, Edwin, Mike and Edie.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many capacities; she served in the Relief Society organization, as President for the Primary organization and was a Primary Teacher.
Dorothy loved to sew and quilt, she was a signature quilter and owned The Calico Cottage in Lewisville. She was a member of Snake River Quilt Guild in Idaho Falls and taught quilt making throughout Southeast Idaho and in the Jackson, Wyoming area. Dorothy was a Quilt Judge for the Eastern Idaho State Fair for many years. She generously donated many quilts for humanitarian aid. She worked for Porters in Rexburg and Idaho Falls until she retired. Dorothy loved her family and was especially fond of her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed going for rides on the back of the Harley with Don.
She is survived by her husband Don W. Horel, of Lewisville, children; Edwin (Shelly) Horel, of Idaho Falls, Mike Horel (Pam Cox), of Stanley, North Dakota, Edie (Kevin) Cook, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, sisters; Linda Bates, of St. Anthony, Idaho, Marilyn Parker, of Sun River, Montana, LeAnn Baker of Worland, Wyoming, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dona Baker and Father, Gail J Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Lewisville 1 st Ward LDS Chapel, 474 N. 3450 E, Lewisville, Idaho. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 pm Tuesday and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services Wednesday, both at the church. Burial will be in the Lewisville Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family extends their gratitude to One Source Home Health & Hospice for their loving care and compassion.
