Dorothy Lee Messick

Dorothy Lee Messick, age 76, of Roberts, passed away at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Monday, February 2, 2015. Dorothy was born December 15, 1938 in Idaho Falls, a daughter to Earl D Harkness and Marcia Barzee Harkness. She was raised and attended schools in Roberts. She married Darwin LeRoy Messick, April 15, 1961 in Osgood, ID. She worked for Hazel’s Café in Roberts as a waitress, for J.R. Simplot and Idaho Fresh Pak. She enjoyed traveling the country from coast to coast including Hawaii. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, canning and family. Survivors include a daughter Dana (Jerry) Gardner of Roberts, a son D. LeRoy (Lisa) Messick of Idaho Falls, her twin brother Robert (Dixie) Harkness of Roberts, and brothers Gale (Shirley) Harkness of Iona and Miles L. Harkness of Roberts, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darwin, an infant son, one sister Pat Raymond and a brother Wayne Harkness. Funeral services will be held Friday February 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home 101 West Main Street, Rigby. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Interment will be in the Market Lake Cemetery in Roberts.
