Dorothy Mitchell, age 85, of Monteview died of cancer, at her home Sunday, February 10, 2008. She was born October 31, 1922 at Blackfoot, a daughter of Aaron Milton Thompson and Fern Rider Thompson. She was raised in Hamer and graduated from Hamer High School. July 1, 1940, she married Warren Thomas Mitchell in Pocatello. She worked as a secretary at West Jefferson High School and was instrumental in developing the school lunch program.
She was a member of the Community Church in Mud Lake, a life member of the Idaho Congress of Parents and Teachers, a member of the Ladies V.F.W. auxiliary Verle Skidmore post # 8893. She was also a member of the West Jefferson Senior Citizens Center and helped design the Center.
She is survived by her husband Warren, Daughter; Diane Walstrom of Monteview, a son; Brice (Sherrie) Mitchell of Monteview, brothers; Milt ‘Tommy” (Deione) Thompson, of Hamer, Ray (Delores) Thompson of Idaho Falls, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter; Wilma Hamilton, two sons; Warren Eugene Mitchell and Reed Mitchell, a daughter-in-law; Anne Mitchell and a son-in-law; Victor Walstrom.
A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, February, 15, 2008 at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby. The family will visit with friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Friday, at Mud Lake Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the West Jefferson Senior Citizens Center.
