Dottie Drake, age 78, died Tuesday July 9, 2013 at The Gardens in Rigby.
Dorthella Patricia Drake was born May 24, 1935 at Mt. Pleasant, Utah a daughter to Hartley Johnson and Dortha Ramero Johnson. Her father died when she was an infant and she was raised by Berkley White. She attended schools in Springville, Utah. She married Richard Hatfield and later divorced. She then married Francis Drake and he preceded her in death. She then married Harold Drake and he also preceded her in death.
She worked as a waitress in South East Idaho at the Idaho Falls Airport, at Walkers Café in Rigby and Me and Stan’s Restaurant in Rigby and Rexburg. She was an active Bowler for 35 years and was secretary of the Idaho State Bowling Association. She was a member of the Upper Valley Wranglers and served as Secretary. She was a member of the LDS Church.
She enjoyed needle work, crocheting, knitting, gardening and crafts. She was affectionately known by her family as Grandma Red.
She is survived by her friend and companion, LaMar Mecham, of Shelley; children, Patti Anne Dunning of Idaho Falls, Karen Lynn (Chris) Tomchak of Shelley, Teresa Rae (Mark) Gibbs of Brooking, Oregon, Linda Lou Hatfield of Boise, and Richard Leon (Jill) Hatfield of Boise, siblings Aliene White of Montana, Verl (Ruth Ann) White of Salt Lake City, Utah and Kenneth Don (Debbie) White of Murray, Utah, 23 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband’s Francis and Harold, 1 sister and a daughter Christine Kaye.
Funeral Services will be held Friday July 12th 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main, Rigby. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel.
