Douglas Keith Walker passed away on April 19, 2018. Gentle and always cheerful, Doug leaves behind family and friends who will miss him dearly. Doug was born on August 4, 1947 to Thelma and Wallace Walker. Born with serious disabilities, Doug spent his childhood in the care of many, including, for a time, his Grandma Pendleton. As a young teenager, he was taken in by George and Aileen Lake, who he lived with for almost fifty years. Over those decades, Doug grew to be an integral part of the Lake family. He became known fondly as “Uncle Doug” and loved his adopted siblings—Jolene, Brent, and Connie. Doug pursued education and studied for two years with the Utah State Board of Vocational Education. He built a career working in gas stations, car lots, and shoe repair shops. In 2015, Doug moved to Rigby, Idaho where he came under the care of Kim and Bill Berger. In Idaho, he loved eating lunch with his friends at Journeys and spending time with his cub scouts. Doug enjoyed serving others and did so for more than a decade as a secretary in his church’s Sunday school. He loved watching Utah Jazz games and John Wayne movies. He enjoyed card games and good food. He had a twin sister, Deanna, and four other siblings: Shirlyn, Monte, Danny, and Robert. Funeral services will be held at the LaBelle 1st Ward, 4223 E 528 N, Rigby, on Thursday, April 26 with a viewing to begin at 2:30 and services to begin a 4:00 PM. A second funeral services will be held at the Hillcrest 2nd Ward, 8735 Harvard Park Dr., Sandy, Utah with viewings on Friday, April 27 from 6:30-8:00 and Saturday, April 28 from 10:00-10:45. Services will begin Saturday at 11:00 with an internment to follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
