Doyle Woodruff Skinner

September 9, 1914 — March 26, 2008

Doyle Woodruff Skinner left this earthly life peacefully at his home in Milo on March 26, 2008, he was 93 years old. Doyle was born on September 9, 1914 to Helen Biorn and Woodruff Skinner at Soda Springs, Idaho. He spent his early school days at Meadowville, Conda, Soda Springs, Warm River, Ashton, and Idaho Falls. He attended high school at Grace and Soda Springs. On August 28, 1935, Doyle married Lila Avery in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived in Milo, Sugar City, Coltman, Ucon and Thayne, Wyoming. In 1956, they moved back to Milo for good. Doyle spent most of his life working as a farmer and a truck driver. He hauled everything from coal to tractors. Usually his loads were delivered or picked up from farmers or churches from Soda Springs to Ashton and Salmon to Jackson. Doyle knew the side roads, the back roads and how to get to places without roads. And, he made friends everywhere he went. Doyle was an avid horseman, and he enjoyed the many years that he rode with the Jefferson County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse. Over the past 50 years Doyle has, at various times, been Secretary or Sexton of the Milo Cemetery. At the time of his death he was a member of the Cemetery Board. Doyle loved living in Idaho. He was always looking for a reason to go to the mountains or camp at a stream. He never tired of riding to Jackson with one of his sons. He always marveled at the beauty of The Grand Teton Mountains. Doyle enjoyed spending time with his family, preferably while camping, fishing, or hunting. Doyle was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. He was a high priest. Survivors include his sons, Jerry Doyle (Peggy) Skinner of Firth, Jack W (Alberta) Skinner of Shelley, I. Val Skinner of Rexburg, daughter, Luana (Remy) Tomchak of Idaho Falls, and daughter-in-law Mary Skinner of Rexburg, 40 Grandchildren, 42 Great-grandchildren and 16 Great-great grandchildren.
