Duane Harper

Murray Duane Harper, 81 of Rigby passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born May 8, 1934 in Rigby, Idaho to Murray Charles Harper and Cordelia Bright Harper. He was raised and attended schools in Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School. He continued his education at ISU. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. On June 8, 1962 he married Laura Jean Hess in Rigby; they were blessed with 3 daughters and 1 son. Duane worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle Washington, then as a Technical Engineer at the INEL; retiring after 43 years. He also worked at George and Jesse’s Tire Store in Rigby. Duane was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as ward clerk. He enjoyed working, taking day trips, visiting ghost towns, photography, hunting, and fishing, he loved his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Jean Harper, of Rigby, Daughters, Laura Harper, of Ucon, Linda Harper of Rigby, Delia McCauley of Rigby, son, David Harper, of Butte, Montana, sister Roeann Harper, of Mesa Arizona, brother Mike Harper, of Boise, and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sunda Holman and a granddaughter, Miley Jean McCauley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016, at the Garfield 3rd Ward LDS Chapel, with Bishop Bryan Hammar conducting. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
