Our loving husband, father, son, and brother, Shane G. Duenes, 31, of Idaho Falls, Idaho was called home on December 12, 2003. He fought a long courageous battle against cancer. He fought his cancer like a warrior, never giving up. He past from this life surrounded by his family, in the comfort of his home. His journey here on Earth began January 17, 1972 in the Idaho Falls, Idaho born to Gilbert L. Duenes and Karen Kae Schneider Duenes. He spent his childhood growing up in Lewisville. He lived in Roberts, Rigby, and later settling in Idaho Falls. He attended school at Midway Elementary, Midway Jr. High and graduated from Rigby High School. At the age of 8 he started working with his father in the family concrete business. He thrived on the challenge of learning to run the power tools and the art of handling a concrete trowel. He became competent in grading, reading blueprints, finish work and spent his summers traveling through Idaho, Utah and Wyoming working on job sites with his father. As a young boy Shane enjoyed playing little league baseball, football, taking karate classes, snow machining, snow skiing, camping and tormenting his two older sisters. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. On July 12, 1990, he married Brandi Ball in Grant, Idaho. They later divorced. On September 11, 1994 he married Jaylene Harper. He worked for Green Valley Inc, HK Contractors as a heavy equipment operator/ truck driver. In 1997 he ventured out on his own, to sub contract for the Wasatch I-15 project for the 2000 Winter Olympics. He continued sub-contracting for businesses in Idaho Falls until his illness made it impossible for him to work. He was a member of the Skyline Gun Club. He loved sports and was a huge Lakers fan. He also enjoyed Hockey and was an assistant coach for the city youth league. Shane had a very tender heart and often said his greatest accomplishments were his children. He had a great love for his family. Survivors include his wife Jaylene Duenes of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Son Tristan Cage Duenes of Grant, Idaho, daughter Kelsie Paige Duenes of Idaho Falls, Idaho Step children Landry Harper, and Amanda McMurtrey of Idaho Falls, Idaho Father Gilbert L. Duenes of Lewisville, Idaho sisters Elena D. (Brad) Madison of Rigby, Idaho Amy D (Lynn) Howe of Richland, Washington, nieces and nephews Brooke (Chad) Coles, Amber Ashbocker, Skyler L. Ashbocker, Axel B. Ashbocker, Jennie Howe, McKenzie Howe, and Madeline Howe and a great nephew Ammon C. Coles. Shane was preceded in death by his mother Karen Kae Schneider Duenes and grandparents Beatrice and Irad Schneider. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby with Bishop Kliff Bramwell officiating. The family will meet with friends on Monday night from 7:00 – 8:30 pm and prior to the services from 9:30 - 10:45 am at Eckersell Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow the services at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family expresses their appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Kevin Mulvey, his staff, and the Aspen Home Health Care for their service and compassion.
