Opal Earleen Ricks Scott, 74 of Twin Falls passed away on February 11, 2011 with her family by her side following a short battle with cancer.
Earleen was born April 1, 1936 to Joseph Earl and Opal Ward Ricks in Rexburg, Idaho.
She grew up in Rexburg, Ririe, and Idaho Falls. She graduated from Madison High School in Rexburg, Idaho and later attended Excelsis Beauty College in Idaho Falls.
She married her childhood friend Don Harmon Scott on March 17, 1956 in Rexburg, ID. Together they had 6 children. They lived and worked in Rexburg, Ririe, Idaho. They also worked in Utah and Nevada while Don worked in construction. They later moved to Ucon, Idaho and spent many fun filled years there. Then they moved to Big Piney, Wyoming and then many years later they retired and made their final home in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Earleen was always ready and willing to help anyone in need. She always made you feel happy and better having known her. Her happy smile always made everyone around her smile. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, friend and teacher. She loved her family and spending time with them brought her great joy. Earleen loved to read books, and crochet blankets and special things for her children and grandchildren. Her faith has been her strength throughout her life. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and she held many positions in the Relief Society, Primary, and she worked in the Genealogy Extraction program.
She is survived by her loving husband Don. Her 6 children: Donalene (Ron) Myers, Clearfield, UT; Rodney (Carol) Scott, Rexburg, ID; Kerry (Peggy) Scott, Rigby, ID; Flynn Scott, Ogden, UT; ReNae (Keith) Pilgrim, Benton City, WA; and Carter (Robin) Scott, Hooper, UT; Brothers: Dale (Jeanette) Ricks, Gooding, ID; Dee Ricks, Kimberly, ID; Tim (Jeanette) Ricks, Rexburg, ID; Sisters: Cleora Ward, Delaine (Raynold) Stewart, Ruby Ricks, all of Murtaugh, ID; Karen Lott of Idaho Falls, ID; Nina (Don) Butler of Filer, ID; and Joann (Keith) Biggs of Portland, OR. She has 20 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 10:30 am at the Twin Falls 9th Ward Chapel, 2680 North Elizabeth Blvd, Twin Falls, ID 83301. Family will visit with friends from 9:00 am to 11am at the Church. Interment will be at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery in Ririe Idaho, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
