Edgar Poole Green, 73, died at his home in Shelley, Idaho on Wednesday, August 20, 2014.
He was born December 24, 1940 in Menan, Idaho to Robert Dennis Green and Mary Harriet Poole Green. He was raised in Menan for 10 years and then moved to Terreton. Edgar attended school in Menan and Hamer, graduating from West Jefferson High School. He worked on the farm in Terreton and in Arco as a meat cutter for IGA. He later moved back to Terreton to work on the family farm and retired in 1999. He enjoyed farming, flying, fishing, trail riding, working, being with family, spending time with his grandchildren, and flipping quarters for Pepsi at Simmons Hardware in Terreton.
Edgar was a member of the LDS Church in which he served in various church callings, including bishopric counselor, Bishop, member of the High Council, and High Priest Group Leader. He and Mary Alice served in the Idaho Falls Temple in the Baptistry as well as serving missions at Martins Cove in 2002 and Cove Fort in 2003. They later moved to Shelley, Idaho in 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Sant Green; children Lauri (Dan) Pratt of Farmington, Utah, Mary Jo (Jerry) Goodspeed of Kaysville, Utah, Dennis (Jodi) Green of Farr West, Utah, Debra (Von) Bean of Lemhi, Idaho, and Julie (Tom) Gauchay of Idaho Falls, Idaho; siblings Mary Capps, Annette Peterson, and Lewis Green; 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace Hobley (sister), Von Green (brother), and Ethan Gauchay, (great grandson).
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 25 at the Shelley 5th Ward Chapel, 513 S. Park Ave., with Ryan Kidman officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, August 24 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main St., Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to the funeral services at the church. Interment will be in the Fielding Memorial Cemetery in Idaho Falls.
