Edith Laverne Hall

Edith LaVerne Rainey Hall, 87, of Blackfoot, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Bingham Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Blackfoot. Edith was born September 1, 1923 in Annis, Idaho to Roy Sylvanus Rainey and Ida Sophia DeRoche Rainey. At the age of 6 her family moved to the Teton Basin Homestead of Cummer & Martha Leanora Hall. The Halls then moved to the Rainey’s property in Annis and later became Edith’s in-laws. She attended schools in Menan, Annis, Tetonia and Cache Clawson. At the age of 16 Edith lost both of her parents due to lighting striking them while on the porch of their son’s home. On September 28, 1940, she married Lawrence Douglas Hall in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They were the parents of three children, Twila Jean, Dorthy Mae, and Lance Leon. They established homes in Annis, Tetonia, Emmett and then Blackfoot in 1964, where they both worked in local potato warehouses until they both retired. Edith was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, hunting and raising roses. She is survived by her daughters, Twila Jean (Robert) Likes, of Pocatello, Idaho, Dorthy Mae (Douglas) Eddins, of Blackfoot Idaho; son, Lance Leon (Zoe Anna) Hall, of Shelley, Idaho, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Lawrence, brothers, Wayne, Elwood, Austin, Edgar and sister, Marie Rainey Moffat. A grave side service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Annis Little Butte Cemetery, with Bob Brown, conducting. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to services at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby.
