Edna I. Hayes, age 86, of Rigby, died Wednesday December 28, 2005, at the Rexburg Nursing and Rehab Center in Rexburg. Edna was born October 2, 1919 at Ucon, Idaho a daughter to Edward James Rawle and Jennie Irene Barnes Rawle. She attended 1st grade at Riley Grade School in Salt Lake City, Utah, 2nd through the 8th grades in Lewisville, and graduated from Midway High School. She married Archie Leroy Hayes Sr. in Rigby, October 2, 1939. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in the Relief Society. She loved music and reading. She served in Cub Scouts as a Den Mother. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and the ladies auxiliary of the VFW.
Survivors include: two daughters Brenda Kaye (Doug) Swaner of Fairfield, Idaho, Kathy Lynn (Scott) Black of Bentonville, Arkansas, four sons Stanley Frederick (Lynne) Hayes of Hamilton, Montana, Robert James (Mary Kay) Hayes of Salt Lake City, Utah, Kenneth Neal Hayes of Tooele, Utah, Kent Reed (Marian) Hayes of Rexburg, four sisters Nina (E.G.) Leonard of Ririe, Betty Linder of Salt Lake City, Utah, Shirley Rayes of Clark, Idaho, Patricia Humphries of Idaho Falls, one brother Edward George (Kris) Rawle of Rancho Cordova, California, 23 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son Archie Leroy Hayes Jr.
Funeral services will be held Monday January 2, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will visit with friends on Monday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
