Edna Grace Pearson Oram, age 88, died September 17, 2005 at Life Care Center in Idaho Falls.
At the base of Table Rock Mountain on a cold and snowy January night, Edna Grace was born January 9, 1917 to Carl Albert and Grace Pearson. She was the fifth of nine children (Clyde, Verona, Jack, Helen, Merle, Aldyth, Marjorie, and Clarene). Edna grew up loving the mountains.
When her family moved to Rigby, Idaho, Edna met her handsome neighbor John Lyle Oram (deceased 2001) and they married in 1936. They had five children: Lyle J., William Richard, Josephine Lynn, Kathi Jean, and Steven Craig. Edna had 22 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Despite her many life-threatening illnesses, Edna lived a full rich life. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in various positions: Primary President, Stake Primary Historian, Cub Scout Den Mother, Genealogy researcher and teacher, Sunday School teacher and Young Women’s Councilor. Edna and her husband served two missions: Cali, Columbia and Roanoke, Virginia and two stake missions, one in Salt Lake City and one in Osgood, Idaho.
Edna and John built two houses and two cabins. They have lived in Idaho, California and Washington. Most of their lives have been spent in Rigby where they were high-school sweethearts.
Edna loved their home on the Snake River where she fished, painted beautiful oil paintings, and watched the water lazily flow by. But it was the cabin land that stole her heart and took her back to her beloved mountains.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Life Care Center in Idaho Falls.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. in the Rigby Stake Center with Bishop Brad Anderson officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Stake Center.
