Edward Chester Leavitt

Edward “Eddie” Chester Leavitt 91, of Kalispell, Montana died Monday, January 08, 2007, at the North Valley Hospital in Whitefish, Montana after a brief illness. Eddie was born on March 10, 1915 to George Henry and Isabella Alice Leavitt in Clinton, Utah. He was the sixth of eight children. All have preceded him in death. Eddie graduated from high school in Malad City, Idaho and then served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII. Upon his discharge, Eddie worked for a number of road construction firms retiring in 1980 from HK Construction of Idaho Falls. Eddie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Columbia Falls, Montana. For the past three and a half years, Eddie has been residing in the “Dom” at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls, Montana. Eddie married Lucille Price in Elko, Nevada on September 10, 1948. She preceded him on March 13, 1968. Eddie later married Lucille Geddes on March 11, 1974. She preceded him in March of 2000. Eddie was a kind, gentle man who will be missed by family and many friends, and the family expresses a sincere thanks to the many caring individuals in both the Montana Veterans Home and the North Valley Hospital in Whitefish, Montana for the care and comfort provided. Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings, both of his wives, a grandson Tony Lynn Olsen, and a granddaughter, Shannon Lucille Leavitt. He is survived by his children Cherlyn (Monte) Call of Rigby, Idaho, Linda (Mike) Crimmins of Kallispell, Montana, Scott Leavitt of Tucson, Arizona, and Melvin (Lori) Leavitt of Rigby, Idaho, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2007 at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service both at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby. The family suggests memorials to be sent to the charity of your choice. Military Rites will be performed by the Jefferson Veterans Team.
