Edward Lucio Ramirez

October 13, 1946 — July 29, 2023

Edward Lucio Ramirez, 76, of Rigby, Idaho passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023. He was born October, 13, 1946 in Tijuana, Mexico, the son of Cruz Magana Ramirez and Maria L Del Basquet Ramirez.

Ed attended schools in Huntington Beach and graduated from Huntington Beach High School. He married Maryanne Palmer on September 9, 1988 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked as sanitation truck driver for waste management in Irvine, California for 20 years. He was a diligent worker who through his years of providing for his family also supported foster children that he and Maryanne invited into their home. Some of which became full family members through love and adoption.

Ed moved his family to Idaho where he continued to work, clear up into his 70’s. Working was his biggest hobby. In the time that he lived in Idaho, he worked for his grandson at the Rigby Tattoo and also for Targhee Brands Beef Jerky.

When Ed was not working to provide, he was working in his yard. Other hobbies that coincided with work was watching TV, watching football on TV, and going to the gym to workout. Each night he would do pushups before going to bed. He never knew how to stop.

Ed is survived by his loving wife; Maryanne Ramirez of Rigby, Idaho. Daughters: Lorianne (Bernardo) Gutierrez of San Diego, California, Charlene (Ben Tofa) Grant of Rigby, Idaho, Anna Ramirez of Huntington Beach, California, Christine (Rich) Pelfrey of East Vale, California and Alexis Ramirez of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Sons: Robert James of Rigby, Idaho, Eugene (Kelly) Ramirez of Fountain Valley, California, Ronald James of Rigby, Idaho, Chris (Jyll) Ramirez of Huntington Beach, California, Loren Grant of Rigby, Idaho, Richard (Harley) Ramirez currently serving in the United States Army, Christopher Strum of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Eugene Palmer Jr of Michigan; A sister: Bertha Deleon of Ridgecrest, California; twenty-two grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Richard James, a sister; Julia Hernandez and her husband Dr. Alfred Hernandez. A granddaughter, Kimberly James and a brother, LG Sr.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 W. Main Street, Rigby, ID). The family will meet with friends prior to services at Eckersell Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.  A rosary will be after the service at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
