Edwin Arthur Casper, 81, of Idaho Falls, died at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center Thursday, April 15, 2004. Edwin was born July 30, 1922 at Menan, a son of Alma Edwin Casper and Lucy Sellars Casper. He attended schools in Salt Lake City, Ogden, West Weber, and Menan graduating from Midway High School. He worked for Garrett Frieghtlines until he joined the Army in 1944. He married Vonda Schneiter November 14, 1940 in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple February 1, 1950. He farmed in Menan purchasing the family farm from his mother. Vonda preceded him in death and on May 1, 1995 he married Christina Youngstrom-Oswald in Menan. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Secretary of the Mutual, Explorer Advisor, and Stake Missionary, 2nd Counselor in the Bishopric, Mutal Superintendent, Teachers advisor, Ward Clerk, Young Men’s President, Scouting Coordinator, Church Farm Manager, High Priest Group Leader and Ward Extraction coordinator. He enjoyed Square and Round Dancing, grandchildren, family and good weather. Survivors include: his wife Christina Casper of Idaho Falls, 2 daughters Marilyn Killian of Idaho Falls, Ann Marie (Bruce) Barnes of North Fork, Idaho, 1 step daughter, Sherill (Delbert) Newman of Ammon, Idaho; 3 sons: LaMar (LuDene) Casper of Gillette, Wyoming, Val (Sheryl) Casper of Driggs, and Richard Casper of Roberts, 4 step sons: Robert (Gena) Oswald of Lehi, Utah, Larry (Kianna) Oswald of Twin Falls, Danny (Yvette) Oswald of Preston, and Gary (Hydie) Oswald of Idaho Falls, 3 sisters: Lila Summers of Ucon, Louella Sassi of Phoenix, Arizona and Darlene Newbold of San Antonio, Texas, 43 grandchildren and 72 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Vonda, 1 daughter Lora Lee, 1 son Rex, 1 brother Douglas and 1 granddaughter Michelle. Services will be held Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Menan LDS Stake Center. The family will visit with friends on Monday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Tuesday at the Menan Stake Center from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
