Edwin "Ted" Cutler Adamson

April 15, 1922 — December 7, 2011

Edwin Cutler “Ted “Adamson, 89, of Idaho Falls, formerly of Terreton, died Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at his home. He was born April 15, 1922, in Blackfoot to James Blaine and Genevieve Cutler Adamson. He attended elementary school in Terreton and attended Roberts High School, graduating in 1939. He continued his education at BYU. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946 as a Radar Technician and achieved the rank of Sergeant. On October 17, 1944 he married May Call in Corpus Christi, Texas; their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on February 26, 1947. Together they raised seven children on the family farm in Terreton. Ted taught school briefly and farmed several years before starting work at the INL as a hot cell engineer and later as a facility supervisor, retiring in 1982. Ted was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities including bishop, high councilor, and scoutmaster; he was the first president of the Roberts Stake. Following missions with May to Geneva, Switzerland in 1985 and to Zaire in 1987, he was a Sealer in the Idaho Falls Temple. He and May loved music and spent many happy hours with their family singing harmony around the piano. They sang for weddings and funerals throughout the community. As part of that love for music Ted joined ward choirs wherever he lived. This gave him the opportunity to sing in choirs on three continents. He enjoyed reading and literature, and above all he loved his family and all people. He is survived by four daughters and three sons, Susan (Rhoud) Porter of Chubbuck, Nancy (Robert) French, of Alberta, Canada, Patrice (Mark) Austin, of Parker, Colorado, Kerry (Jerry) Rainsdon, of Billings, Montana, Edwin B. “Ted” (Eun Kyoung) Adamson, of Tokyo, Japan, Craig (Teea) Adamson, of Ammon, Jeff (Diane) Adamson, of Mountain View, California, a brother, Harley Kirk (Virginia) Adamson, 39 grandchildren, and 42 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, brothers Larry B. and Gene Eldon Adamson, a sister Carol Alverson, and 2 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make donations to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund or a charity of your choice. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2011, at the Parkview LDS Chapel, 2051 S. Emerson, Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, and at the Parkview LDS Chapel from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the funeral.
