Elaine Ball Archibald, 67, passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, in Rexburg, after a nearly four-year battle with brain cancer (glioblastoma).
Elaine was born in Idaho Falls on July 2, 1947, to Ronald James and Emily Madsen Ball. She had a happy childhood in Lewisville, riding horses and swimming in canals. Being from a farm family she also weeded beets, irrigated fields and worked in the harvest. She played catcher for the Young Women’s softball team. She played in Band at Rigby High School, playing both the cornet and french horn. She was a member of the Troyettes Drill team. She graduated from Rigby High School in 1965. She graduated from Utah State University with a degree in education in 1969.
Elaine married Kent Archibald on June 21, 1969. She is the best thing that ever happened in Kent’s life. She was a loving wife and mother who was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was a gifted homemaker who made everyone feel welcome in their home. Her baking & candy making skills are well-known, and you were fortunate to be on the receiving end of her talents.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many ward and stake callings. Her service extended beyond those callings, and she was often found helping friends and neighbors.
Elaine loved to quilt, and enjoyed the many friendships she made through ward quilting groups, as well as the Mountain Valley and Behind the Seams Quilt Guilds. Her family, children & grandchildren were the lucky recipients of her numerous quilt & pillowcase projects.
Love Unconditionally, Family Matters, Work Hard, Serve Others, Laugh, Be Creative were her mottos.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Kent; children, Greg (Hailey) of Idaho Falls, ID; Jeff (Laura) of Las Vegas, NV; Sam of Denver, CO; Wendy Jones of Auburn, WA; Tyler (Amber) of Caldwell, ID; Mike (Sandi) of Boise, ID; 16 grandchildren; sisters Rosalie (Dick) Jones of Lewisville, ID; Margaret (Steve) Wilkins, of Boise, ID; Susan (Richard) Plant of Blackfoot, ID; brothers RJ (Dianna) Ball of Monteview, ID; Carl (Julene) Ball of Hamer, ID; Robert (Debbie) Ball of Hamer, ID; and brother-in-law Paul (Lori) Jones of St. George, UT.
