Elaine Rushton Finn, 90, of Rigby, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013, at Great Oaks Assisted Living Center in Rigby.
She was born July 6, 1923, in Las Vegas, Nevada to Clay Rushton and Jetta Chadburn Rushton. She and her twin sister, Frances were the first two of five daughters. The family moved to Montana where she graduated from Simms High School. She met Thyrald Finn of Rigby while serving a LDS mission in Great Falls, MT. They were married in the Cardston, Alberta Temple on March 16, 1944. They moved to Rigby to begin their life together and have lived and farmed in the Clark area for most of 68 years. Thyrald passed away in February 2008.
An active member of the LDS church, she served in the Primary, Relief Society, and Young Women’s Organizations, she served a mission with her husband in the San Bernardino, California mission and they enjoyed serving as temple workers in the Idaho Falls Temple for 10 years. Elaine was active in Farm Bureau, 4-H, and Republican Women. She and Thyrald loved to dance, go camping with their family, travel to conventions and to visit family. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. She also loved to write stories and read. Most importantly, she loved and was dearly loved in return by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She always showed interest in their lives and loved nothing more than being with them. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Marcia (Craig) Hammer, of Greenwood, Indiana, Jim (Debbie) Finn, of Rigby, Scott (Tina) Finn, of Richmond, Virginia, Jeff (Tammy) Finn, of Rigby, 17 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
