Elbert I. Garner Jr., 72, of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 in Afton, OK. He was the son of Elbert I. Garner Sr. and Thelma Hill Garner, born on October 14, 1944 in Newport, North Carolina. He grew up and attended schools in Newport, North Carolina, and graduated from New Port High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Campaign. He worked as a long-haul trucker with a career of 45 years. His driving took him out of Idaho, Tennessee and North Carolina working for employers such as Andrus Trucking and Eagle Eye Produce. On May 9, 2002, Elbert married Jacqueline “Jacqui” Zundel Ward in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Elbert enjoyed horses, fishing, golf, watching football and Nascar. He was a proud grandpa who enjoyed his grandchildren and attending every activity he could. His favorite horse was Dollar. Elbert is survived by his wife Jacqui of Idaho Falls, ID. His children, Rachelle (Matt) Winn of Rigby, ID, Angela (Kevin) Martin of Rigby, ID, Natalie Moss and Ben Wheeler of Menan, ID, and Hillary (Tom) Keeler of Idaho Falls, ID. His siblings, Emma Ruth Brinson of Slaterville, NC, Bobby Jo Granziano of Florida, Jeff (Patsy) Garner of Afton, Oklahoma and Bill Garner of Freeland, Washington and twelve grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandchild, Kyree Keeler and a son-in-law, C.J. Moss. A memorial service to celebrate Elbert’s life will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Jefferson County Fair Building, Centennial Lane, Rigby, Idaho.
