Eldon LaRain Dayley, 74, of Annis, Idaho passed away August 26, 2009 due to complications following heart surgery. Eldon was born February 6, 1935 to Eldon Enoch and Fontella Purser Dayley in Archer, Idaho.
Eldon attended school in California and Idaho, graduating from Rigby High School in 1953 and later from Ricks College in 1976 with an Associate Degree in Engineering. He worked for the Utah Road Commission, INEL, Rodger Brothers, Jewel Electric, and for the LDS church for 21 years before retiring in 1999. Eldon served in the Idaho National Guard and the U.S. Army, spending two years in Japan.
Eldon married his sweetheart, Patsy Kay Thorngren in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, May 17, 1957. From this union came three sons and three daughters. They lived in Idaho Falls, ID and Salt Lake City, UT, before settling for the past 50 years in Annis, Idaho. Eldon and Patsy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2007.
Eldon faithfully held many positions in the LDS church including: Bishopric counselor, Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader, and Family History Consultant. Eldon and Patsy served an 18 month mission at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City.
Survivors include his wife Patsy; children LeeAnn (Brian) Parker, Becky Rey, David (JoAnn), Alan (Lisa), Patti (Merritt) Staley, and Brad (DaNae). Brothers Gilbert (Arlene), Kyle (Joyce) and sisters Ryla (LeRoy) Clapp, and Betty Mutchler. 21 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Viewing is Friday September 4, 2009 from 7:00-8:30pm at the Eckersell Funeral Home at 101 West Main Street Rigby, Idaho. Funeral services will be held Saturday September 5, 2009 at the Menan Stake Center 698 N. 3600 E. Menan, Idaho at 12:00 with family and friends invited at 11:00. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
