Elmer Dean Nelson

Elmer Dean Nelson, 68, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away on August 19, 2026, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Elmer was born on October 30, 1957, to Elmer Nelson Sr. and Geraldine Beckstrom. He earned his GED and later attended school to become an airplane mechanic. He also earned his CDL and worked as a long-haul truck driver. Throughout his adult life, Elmer made Idaho his home mostly in Idaho. He was employed by Doug Andrus, and England Trucking Companies.

Elmer was a member of the Lutheran Church. He enjoyed building things, mechanics, old cars and trucks, building models, fishing, and motorcycles. He was someone who enjoyed working with his hands and fixing and creating things.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Tamera Albertson; and his brother, Lyn Nelson.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Nelson; his children, Scott Nelson and his wife, Danile; Natasha Nelson; Kaycee Nelson; Megan Nelson; Ferryn Logan; Tessa Nelson; Sky Nelson; Thrye Nelson; and Saxon Nelson. He is also survived by many grandchildren, including Ryle Nelson, Christine Nelson, Chelle Logan, Tyler Nelson, Korban Logan, Jenica Nelson, McKayela Van Natta, Ashton Nelson, Payton Nelson, Lily Elizabeth Kearney-Simard, Mithias “Logan” Bruce Nelson, Asher Barry MacIvor, Thomas Damien MacIvor, and Silas John Pierre Nelson.

He is also survived by his brothers, Larry Nelson, J.R. Anton, and Jimmy Anton, and his uncle, Tharen Garette.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home. A gathering will be held prior to the service from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Family and friends are invited to come together to remember and celebrate Elmer’s life.
