Elva “Betty” Janiel Brower, 84, of Rexburg passed away Monday, July 21, 2008 at Madison Memorial Hospital.
She was born January 3, 1924 in Clark, a daughter of Wilford Harris Finn and Sarah Jeffs Finn. She attended schools in Clark and Rigby and graduated from Rigby High School.
On May 8, 1942 she married Richard Ivan Brower in Rigby; their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1943.
Betty farmed in Teton Valley, owned Betty’s Café in Tetonia for 10 years and worked in the timber industry for many years in the mountains. She lived in Felt, Idaho then moved to Rexburg where she spent the last 10 years.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Relief Society. Betty enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren and great grandchildren, quilting, playing pinochle, and was a wonderful cook.
She is survived by four sons; Tharon Richard (Linda) Brower, of Idaho Falls, Garon Richard (Norma) Brower, of Rexburg, Michael William (Jackie) Brower, of Ammon, and Kenneth Lee (MerriAnn) Brower, of Rexburg, two sisters; Olive Deschamps, of Idaho Falls, Beth (Ray) Tolley of Kearns, Ut., 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Janiel Jean Wulf, a grandson, Kenneth Richard Brower, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2008 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, with Kenneth Brower, conducting. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., both at Eckersell Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Cache Clawson Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
