Emma Purser

Emma Balls Purser passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 19th, 2010 in Rigby, Idaho at the age of 94. She was born on March 2, 1916 in Hyde Park, Utah to Charles Heber and Myrtle Vera Seamons Balls. She attended school in Hyde Park and then at North Cache High School in Richmond, Utah. Emma married Bartley Ray Purser on March 21, 1933 in Logan, Utah. They move to Idaho in 1940 and farmed. They raised many crops and 7 children. Emma was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed serving in many callings, especially the Spanish Extraction Program, which she served in for 9 years. She served as visiting teacher for over 55 years. At the age of 69 she discovered a talent for oil painting and painted many beautiful pictures for all of her children and grandchildren. Emma was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed quilting and crocheting gifts for her family and friends. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother. Emma especially loved time spent at the family reunions and her trip to Israel. She really enjoyed watching a good ballgame. Emma is survived by 3 sons and 3 daughters, Lavell R. (Shirley) Purser, of Rigby, Gwen (Devar) Weekes, of Salem, Arlene (Gilbert) Dayley, of Rigby, Sidney (Len) Purser, of Sugar City, Eugene B. (Diane) Purser, of Rigby, and Julia Ann (Myrle) Hanson, of Menan, as well as 36 grandchildren, 110 great-grandchildren, and 78 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Gwen Balls, brothers, Lynn, Clair and Marsden Balls, daughter, and son-in-law, Janet and Ladell Jones, Granddaughter, Marilee Purser and great grandson, Joseph B. Weekes. We are grateful to the Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rigby for the loving and compassionate care given to our Mother. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 23, 2010, at the Rigby East Stake Center, with Bishop Wayne Call, conducting. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the stake center. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
