Enid Afton Burgener, age 94, of Rexburg, died Monday, October 1, 2018 at her son’s home in Idaho Falls.
Enid was born July 22, 1924 in Sunnydell, Idaho a daughter to Everett Hawley Clay and Myrtle Dale Clay. She attended schools in Sunnydell, Archer and Rexburg and then attended Ricks College. She went to work as a welder in the ship yards in Oregon during World War II. She married Lowell Ashcroft in May of 1946 and had two sons, Brent and Terry and later divorced. She married Dave Burgener in October of 1959. Her son Terry passed away in November of 1989.
She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served in many callings. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed gardening, camping, horseback riding, reading, arts and crafts, music and helping others.
She is survived by her son Brent (Terri) Ashcroft of Idaho Falls, 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave Burgener, son, Terry Ashcroft Burgener, sister, Diane Azuela, and brothers, Budge Clay and Dale Taylor Clay.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 5, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, Idaho. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday and from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m., Friday, both at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Victor Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby.
