Ernest “Bud” Summers, age 95, of Ririe, Idaho, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, at Saige Grove Assisted Living Center in Rigby, Idaho. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice. Bud was born on September 30, 1930, in Rigby, Idaho, to Joseph Benjamin and Georgia Nettie Leona Blanch Harris.
Bud received an eighth-grade education and served his country in the U.S. Army from May 8, 1952, to October 31, 1952, where he held the rank of Private 2nd Class.
He married Elva Andersen, later divorced and then married Shirlene Eddins. Bud farmed and ranched until 1974, after which he worked for H&K Contractors until his retirement. He lived in Ririe and surrounding areas throughout his life. Bud loved helping his son Ben with cows and farming, spending time with his grandchildren and family, and sharing his humor-especially joking, scaring people, and teasing his grandkids by sticking out his teeth. He was known for his fun-loving spirit and his love of country music.
He is survived by his daughters Jolene Ward (Richard) of Payette, Idaho; Sherri Wellard (Brad) of Idaho Falls; and Lona Weekes of Ririe, Idaho; sons Blaine Summers of Arizona and Ben Summers (Malissa) of Ririe Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his wife Shirlene Summers, his parents, four siblings, daughter Peggy Sue Clark, and grandsons Matt Wellard and Jace Weekes.
Bud leaves behind a loving family including 21 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho). A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
