Essie Serepta Howe

January 26, 1925 — April 25, 2014

Essie Serepta Hall Howe, age 89, of Rigby, passed away April 25, 2014 at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls. Essie was born January 26, 1925 at Annis, Idaho a daughter to Warren Hall and Della May Campbell Hall. She married Leslie R. Howe, June 5, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple January 12, 1944. She lived her entire life in Idaho with the exception of the years spent in Texas and Kansas during World War II. With her husband she owned and operated Howe Fun Fabrics in Rigby for several years; they enjoyed supporting the community by giving additional sewing and quilting materials for projects large and small. Essie’s philosophy was to always give the best you have. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary and Relief Society organizations; she always lent a hand at church functions and enjoyed serving those in needs. She and her husband also served a Family History Mission at the Genealogy Library. She was a good cook and baker, tons of bread and rolls left her backdoor and was delivered all over the valley as gifts for friends and family. Essie was a hard worker and gave countless charitable acts of kindness. She was very compassionate and thoughtful. Survivors include two daughters: Marilyn (David) Woodruff of Bremerton, Washington and Marsha (Darrell) Felch of College Place, Washington, two sons: Richard (Joyce) Howe of West Yellowstone, Montana and Scott (Tamie) Howe of Rigby, Idaho 28 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Warren Hall and Della May Hall, her husband Leslie R. Howe, siblings Victor Hall, Edward Hall, Edna Robison and Annie Young. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Eckersell Memorial Chapel. The family will visit with friends from 9:30 to 10:45 am prior to services. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
