Ethel (Leigh) Laird: 68, of Rigby, Idaho died Thursday, February 16, 2006 at her home. Leigh was born May 15, 1937 in Afton, Wyoming the daughter of Thomas H. Simpson and Virginia Millward. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Merl W. Barker. She attended schools in Pocatello, and graduated from Pocatello High School. She attended college at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many callings in the Relief Society and with Young Adults. She served a mission for the LDS Church to the California, Santa Rosa Mission. She was a member of the Women’s Auxillary of the American Legion in Rigby, Idaho. She loved her family dearly especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Julia Laird of Ammon, Idaho, Ryan Laird of Ammon, Idaho and Rand Laird of Nampa, Idaho. Sisters, Lynette Farnsworth of Pocatello, Idaho and Karlee Jensen of Sandy, Utah. A brother, Ron Barker of Pocatello, Idaho. Six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Garry Barker. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 20, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rigby 1st Ward LDS Chapel. The family will meet with friends Sunday, February 19, 2006 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and on Monday, February 20, 2006 at the Rigby 1st Ward Chapel from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Fairview, Wyoming.The family requests that in place of flowers that donations be made to the American Cancer Society at P.O. Box 5386, Boise, Idaho 83705.
