Eugene Ellington Smith

November 30, 1918 — July 4, 2005

Eugene Ellington Smith, (known as Enock or Nick) age 86, returned to his eternal home July 4, 2005. He was born to Joseph Ellington Smith and Vergie May Greene, November 30, 1918 at Teton Basin Fox Creek. His younger years were spent in the Twin Falls area - Hollister, where his father passed away when he was 12 years old. The family eventually moved back to the Driggs, Idaho area where he met his eternal companion Cristel Hill. Their union brought to being five sons and two daughters, 28 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. His life was his family. He also found great joy in the many horses he had through the years. He provided for his family as a Lineman working for Jepson Electric in Driggs and the Utah Power and Light throughout the Snake River Valley. His occupation instilled in him the constant need for safety which he taught his children. Survivors include his sons: Grant of Rush Valley, Utah, Harry of Delta, Utah, Max, Benny & Buzz all of Idaho Falls – Milo area, daughters Mabel Tomchak of Roberts, Martha Johnson of Milo and his sweetheart Cristel or “Salley”. He was preceded in death by his parents, his five brothers and one of his two sisters and two grandsons and a granddaughter. He was respected by all for he was a tolerant man and is loved and missed greatly by family and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 7, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. in the Milo 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 12127 North 75 East, Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday at the Milo Church from 7 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday for one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Darby Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
