Eula Joann Welker, 73, of Rigby, died December 4, 2008, at her home.
She was born March 15, 1935, in Fairview, Wyoming, to Ruel Kimball Jenkins and Lovina Harmon Jenkins. She was raised in Fairview, Afton and Bear Lake. She attended School in Bear Lake and Graduated from Star Valley High School. On June 10, 1953, she married Orrin Louis Welker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
She worked as the Assistant Mail Carrier for 10 years and for the Senior Citizens Center as a cook and delivered meals for 6 years. She was President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. and a member of the Daughters of The Utah Pioneers, Labelle Camp. She received The Community Service Award from the Rigby Chamber of Commerce in 2004. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and worked as a temple worker, and served in many callings, including, Primary, Relief Society, Choir Director, and Ward Chorister. She was also a member of the Intermountain Draft Horse and Mule Association. She won ribbons for her bread at the County Fair. Eula enjoyed music, crocheting, writing poetry, playing guitar, and she encouraged her family and grandchildren in all they did.
She is survived by her husband, Orrin Louis Welker, of Rigby, daughters, Ann Lovina (Nels) Jensen, of Idaho Falls, Sally (Brent) Bielby, of Rigby, Ida Jo (Vern) Jolley, of Rexburg, sons, Kim (Donna) Welker, of Rigby, Clinton Ray (Serena) Welker, of Ramsey, MN, a sister, Fern (Dell) Heap, of Logan, UT, 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Scott Ray Welker, two brothers, Dudley Jenkins, an infant brother, and a grandson, William Bielby.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 8, 2008 at the Lorenzo Chapel, with Bishop Jeremy Hall, conducting. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
