Eva Howell Egbert, 90, of Archer, died Saturday, September 26, 2009, at the Rexburg Homestead Assisted Living Center.
She was born April 4, 1919, in Drummond, Idaho, to Harry Lorenzo Benson, and Anna Amelia Cherry Benson. She was raised and attended schools in Farnum, St. Anthony, and graduated from Ashton High School. On November 18, 1935, she married Rodney Bert Howell in Idaho Falls; their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City, LDS Temple November 6, 1945, he preceded her in death. On September 3, 1993, she married Herschel W. Egbert in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in Relief Society, Sunday School, Primary, as a Librarian for 7 years, a Temple Worker for 8 years and as a Visiting Teacher since 1944. Eva enjoyed sewing, gardening, quilting, and belonged to a quilting group.
She is survived by a daughter; Jeanne (Terry) Clifford, of Salt Lake City, Utah, sons; David Reed (Ada Lou) Howell, of Archer, Robert “Bob” (Romma) Howell, of Archer, Bruce B. (Aldene) Howell, of Burton, A. Wayne (Kathy) Howell, of Littleton, Colorado, Arden J. (Janet) Howell, of Sandy, Utah, sisters; May (Vern) Scott, of Lehi, Utah, Verla (Ivan) Freeman, of Burton, brothers; Keith Benson, of Lake Forrest, California, Clare (Ruth) Benson, of St. George, Utah, 19 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 2 sisters; Myrth Bowen, Myrna Moyes, and 4 brothers; Melvin Benson, Herbert Benson, Ed Benson, and Lorel Benson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at the Archer Ward LDS Chapel, the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday evening at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St., Rigby, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
