Our sweet, kind wife, mother, and grandmother, Evelyn Mae Tomlinson, of Monteview, Idaho, passed away on February 20, 2026, at Rigby Lake Memory Care Center at the age of 79, surrounded by her loving family.
Evelyn was born on September 11, 1946, in Rigby, Idaho, to Ruth Ann Hensley and John Jacob Zweifel. She grew up in Monteview and graduated from West Jefferson High School, where she met the love of her life. She married Albert J. Tomlinson on July 2, 1965, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
After their marriage, they lived in Dillon, Montana, while Evelyn completed beauty school. They later returned to Monteview, where she owned and operated her own salon, The Mop Shop. Evelyn served her clients with love — often sending them home with a warm meal, trading services, lending a listening ear, and being a true friend to all who entered her shop. This is where she and dad raised their family of 5.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Evelyn faithfully served in many callings, including Relief Society President, Primary President, and in the Young Women’s organization.
Some of Evelyn’s greatest joys were spending time with her family, sewing, traveling, painting, and, above all, dancing with her sweetheart.
She is survived by her loving husband, Albert Tomlinson of Monteview; daughters Lori (Todd) Johnson of Rigby, ID; Carrie (Bart) May of Dubois, ID; Jenny (Russ) Kerr of Lewisville, ID; Megan (Roberto) Garza of Post Falls, ID; and son Richard (Jill) Tomlinson of Monteview, ID. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, her sister Helen Burtsch, and brother Allan Zweifel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Zweifel and Ruth Ann Hensley Woosley, sisters Shirley Downs, Ruby O’Neil, and brothers Howard Zweifel, George Zweifel.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Monteview LDS Church. Viewings will be held on Sunday, March 1, from 6:00–7:30 p.m., and again on Monday from 9:30–10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at the West Jefferson Memorial Cemetery.
