On Friday, September 03, 2021, Heaven became a lot brighter when our beloved mother, Fay Otera Evans Dansie passed peacefully at the age of 102. What a joyful reunion with her sweetheart Ronald (married 51 years), her son Craig who had passed at 11 years of age and her daughter Carolyn who passed in 2018.
Fay was born July 16, 1919 in Sugar City, Idaho to Edward Partington Evans and Sarah Otera Cluff Evans. She grew up and attended schools in the Sugar City area and graduated from Sugar-Salem High School. She also graduated from Henager’s Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah. While attending conference at the old tabernacle in Rexburg, Ronald passed her a note from behind and asked her to ride home with him from the meeting. When she arrived at home, she told her mother that she’d met the man she was going to marry and she was right. He finished his schooling at Utah Agricultural College and they were married on August 21, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their home in Tetonia, ID and then moved to Rigby where they raised their seven children; Carolyn, Ron, Shirley, Craig, Bryan, Gayla and Lori.
Fay was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker and continued being the spiritual strength of our family after Dad passed away January 14, 1991. Mom was diagnosed with macular degeneration at age 65. Even though she was legally blind, she was still living in her own home until she fell and broke her hip at the age of 97. She was then lovingly cared for in the home of Gayla and Scott Baguley, her daughter and son-in-law until needing further care in The Wildflower Assisted Living. A special thank you to Gayla and Scott and each of those workers who brightened her day and showed her their love.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served selflessly in various capacities, including Primary President twice, Stake Primary Presidency, Spiritual Living Relief Society Teacher and various other callings. She was always proud to be a member of one of the oldest & largest women’s organization in the world, the Relief Society. She took the motto to heart and served generously of her time and talents to the relief of many in need. She, with her angel friend & visiting teaching companion, Loa Madsen, and other ward sisters, attended the Idaho Falls temple weekly up until the temple was closed for renovation in 2015. One of the highlights of her life was in 1984 when she and her sweetheart were called on an LDS Mission to San Jose, California. They loved every minute of it, living in Half Moon Bay right on the edge of the Pacific Ocean.
Fay loved Family History work and searched out many names to take to the temple. She also loved sewing, baking, crocheting, painting, the Tabernacle Choir and making wonderful meals for all of her family. She could find a bright side in any situation and always had a smile for everyone. She was an excellent writer and wrote many wonderful stories and poems for her posterity to enjoy. She read The Book of Mormon several times and could quote many verses word for word. Her prayers and amazing testimony of Jesus Christ has strengthened her posterity through many difficult circumstances when needed.
Fay is survived by son-in-law, Monte Taylor of Menan, ID; son, Ronald, Jr. (Renae) Dansie, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughter Shirley (Paul) Prescott of Boise, ID; son Bryan (Margo) Dansie of Rigby, ID; daughter Gayla (Scott) Baguley of Rigby, ID; and Lori (Shannon) Follett of Hyde Park, UT; 39 grandchildren; and 66 great-grandchildren. Also her sister, Nelda Kershaw, Caldwell, ID; brother, Myron Evans, Springville, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald, daughter Carolyn Taylor, son Craig, her three sisters; Verla Price, Marjorie Nelson, and Wanda Lue Belnap; three brothers; William, Elihu, and Paul Evans and great-grandson Breyon Quiqq.
Funeral Services are under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home and will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 12 noon in the Lewisville 2nd Ward Church, located at 101 Main Street, Lewisville, ID with Bishop Jason Ard officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:45 to 11:45 at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
