Faye Young Chiles

May 12, 1930 — January 28, 2014

Faye Young Chiles, 83 of Rigby, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on January 28, 2014. She was born May 12, 1930 to Angus and Ester Elizabeth Dutton Young. She was the 10th of 12 children and the last surviving sibling. Faye attended schools in Idaho Falls, graduating from Idaho Falls High School; this is where she met her lifelong friend, Vera. On December 1, 1948, she married Jack W. Chiles and they raised 6 children; Kim, Jack, Christine, Jeanne, MerriBeth and Sharon. They made their home in Rigby. They were married for 52 years until Jack’s passing in 2001. She was a member of The Church of Latter-day Saints where she taught Primary, Relief Society and was a Cub Scout Leader. She was involved with V.F.W. and served as President, Sr. Vice President and Secretary. She was selected as a 2nd place winner of “Woman of The Year”, for the Jac-c-ettes. She enjoyed the Friendship Pinochle Club. But mostly Faye loved her family; she loved them with all her heart. She had the gift of making everyone know of her love and how special they were to her. Her children adored her, and that passed right down to every grandchild, and beyond. She had a special place in her heart for nieces and nephews, and was so kind to all. She had a special bond with all her siblings throughout her life. She loved family reunions, playing pinochle, traveling with her husband, and camping. She loved to dance; she bowled, golfed, gardened, and was a great cook. Faye and Jack fostered three other children, Deanna, Bonnie, and Becky. Faye is survived by her 6 children, Kim (Natalie) Chiles, of Rathdrum, ID, Jack A. (Cherrol) Chiles, of Rexburg, Christine (Douglas) Hymas, Jeanne (Kevin) Crystal, both of Rigby, MerriBeth (Jeff Baird) Chiles, and Sharon Draper both of Idaho Falls, 18 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. Chiles, her parents, 4 brothers, Jim, Dow, Ben, and Joe Young; 7 sisters, Zelda, Verda, Lela, Edith, Alta, Thelma and Marie. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 1st, 2014, at the Garfield 3rd Ward LDS Chapel, 5 N. 3900 E., Rigby. The family will receive friends Friday, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and from 10 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services, both at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Special Thanks to Teton Hospice for all their service and kindness.
