Wanda “Fern” Morgan Gallup, 92, of Rigby, died September 28, 2010, at The Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rigby.
She was born November 11, 1917, in Lorenzo, Idaho, to Delbert Morgan and Jessie Virginia Bush Morgan. She was raised and attended schools in Ririe. On April 15, 1935, she married Edward “Ted” Gallup in Ririe, Idaho; their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 25, 1965. She worked at Mulberry’s, Snake River Produce, Muir-Roberts Produce, and she farmed and ranched in the Clark area with her husband.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and has served in many capacities including; Primary Teacher and Visiting Teaching Supervisor. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the square dance club, Promanaders, in Idaho Falls. Fern enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and vegetables, bowling in the Rigby Bowling League, ballroom dancing, fishing; always out-fishing her husband, and camping. After retirement, she enjoyed wintering in Overton, Nevada.
She is survived by her daughters, Ruth Angelsey, of Rigby, Alice Hill, of Idaho Falls, Donna (Oliver) Hannan, of Idaho Falls, son, Max (Rebecca) Gallup, of Rigby, sisters, Faye Gneiting, of Idaho Falls, Betty Byington, of Idaho Falls, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward “Ted” Gallup, a son, Robert Gallup, sister, Helen Rowan, and brothers, Harold Morgan, Loyd Morgan and a half brother, Richard “Dick” Morgan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 1, 2010, at the Clark Shelton, LDS Chapel, with Bishop Danny Ferguson, conducting. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
