Fern Elizabeth Renfroe, 80, of Rigby, died Saturday, May 13, 2006, at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Fern was born on September 29, 1925, in Ashland, Kentucky a daughter of Tivis and Kathleen Nave Newsome. She was a member of the Westwood Christian Church in Ashland, Kentucky. She graduated Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia receiving her bachelors in teaching. She taught elementary school in Kentucky, Ohio, Iran, Israel, South Carolina and Edgemont Elementary School in Idaho Falls. She retired in 1985. Fern married John Beecher Renfroe on May 4, 1946 at Ashland, Kentucky. She enjoyed quilting.
Fern is survived by her husband John B. Renfroe of Rigby, daughter Jo Ann (Thomas) Bailey of Louisville, Kentucky, son James Michael (Patrice) Renfroe of Kennewick, Washington, sisters Mary M. Holbrook of Sarasota, Florida, Doris Gilley of Warren, Michigan, two brothers, Tivis (Pat) Newsome of Russelville, Kentucky, Donald Newsome of Sumter, South Carolina, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Lovegrove officiating. The family will visit with friends on Monday night from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday both at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
