Florence Lemmon Pond DaBell age 100 ½, of Rigby died April 18, 2007 at The Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rigby. Florence was born August 29, 1906 in Garfield, the third child in the family of twelve to Washington Lemmon and Ida E. Hamilton Lemmon. As she grew up her family moved to Marysville, where she attended Ashton High School and graduated in 1926. On October 3, 1927, she married Newel Pond and lived at Pond’s Lodge in Island Park. Newel died in 1943. After her first family was raised, she met and married Willard DaBell in 1948. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple Feb 27, 1969. Florence lived in her home on Main Street in Rigby from 1946 until 2002.
Living for 100 years she has seen many changes in the world, from no electricity, phones, cars or planes to all we have now. During that time she enjoyed being a beautician. She loved to sew without a pattern and cook without a recipe. Her oil paintings and wall murals are enjoyed by many. She made patchwork quilts and pillows and gave most of them away. Working in her yard and garden, reading and studying, taking photos, and keeping journals filled her time. Even in her latest years she loved to play melodies of the hymns on her keyboard and playing the harmonica. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary, Stake Relief Society, she was a Work Meeting Leader, Drama Director in the MIA, Relief Society Secretary and Visiting Teacher. She served as an Officiator in the Idaho Falls Temple for several years with her husband. She Loved hymns and knew all the words. Florence especially loved doing things with and for her family.
She is survived by six children, Ray (Donna Molinelli) Pond of Driggs, Ted (Rita) Pond of Waianae Hawaii, Jack (Amy) Pond of Rigby, and Geraldine Pond (Doyle) Smith of Rigby, Carla DaBell (Brent) Thomas of Annis and Brenda DaBell (Brad) Walker of Chubbuck, 27 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren and 48 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands.
Funeral Services will be held Monday April 23, 2007,at 11:00 a.m. at the Rigby Stake Center with Bishop John Schell Officiating. The family will meet with friends prior to services from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Grant Central Cemetery.
