Floyd K. White

June 4, 1940 — May 1, 2016

Floyd K. White, 75, of Dubois, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016, in Idaho Falls, following an extended illness, at the Idaho Falls Hospice Home, which he had entered that same day. Floyd was born June 4, 1940, in Penrose, Fremont County, Colorado, to Floyd H. and Hazel R. Creekmore White. He grew up in the mountains where he learned to be self-sufficient early in life. He soon learned how to fix or construct about everything needed for day to day living, which proved very useful throughout his life. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1959, where he served his country until 1967, serving in the submarine service division. While in Idaho working at the Navy Nuclear Plant, he met and married his best friend, LaNae M. Mattson on Oct. 6, 1962. Together they raised two children, Chuck born in 1963 and Eva in 1965. He chose to be discharged from the Navy so that he could have more time to spend with his children. It was hard to be gone for extended periods of time when his children were so young. It was at that time the family moved to Hamer, ID. He worked for Max Fonsbeck Construction Company plowing telephone cable for Mud Lake Telephone Co-Op. He was hired by Mud Lake Telephone Co-Op and later became Manager to replace H. E. Kator, who was retiring. His younger years of repairman knowledge helped move the Mud Lake Telephone Company forward. He retired in 2005, after 35 years of service. Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, being a Mr. Fixit man, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Floyd is survived by his wife, LaNae; son, Chuck White of Dubois, daughter, Eva (Blake)Peterson of Lusk, Wyoming, two sisters: Joan Collins and Suzzy Wells, one brother, Gary White; six grandchildren including: Kenny (Jessica) White, of Dubois, Abby (R.J.) Kleweno, of Cando, ND, Ashley (Ethan) Douglas of Amarillo, Texas, Justin White, and Gary White,of Idaho Falls and Sara Peterson of Rexburg, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Ann and Mamie, two brothers, Gerald and Don and a daughter-in-law, Tammy White. Services will be held Saturday, May 7 at 11:30 a.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street Rigby, ID. The family will greet friends at the Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at the Medicine Lodge cemetery at Small, Idaho. The family suggests contributions be made in Floyd’s Memory to the Dubois Lions Club, P.O. Box 346, Dubois, ID 83423, towards their upcoming Dubois Veteran’s Memorial project.
