Frances Marie Hagen

November 10, 1926 — April 5, 2021

Our beloved “Granny Franny” left us on Monday, April 5, 2021. Frances was born on November 10, 1926 in Coeur d’Alene, ID to William Joseph Garvey and Laura Secaur Garvey. She was the fourth of their nine children. Frances attended IHM Academy all 12 years and graduated in 1944. In 1945 she married John Hydes and her three oldest children were born of that union. They later divorced and she married Albert Duayne Hobbs and from that union came her youngest son. Frances worked for many years at Boise Cascade (later BMC West) in Idaho Falls retiring in her 70’s. She married her childhood sweetheart, James Hagen and moved with him for several years to Virginia. Returning to Idaho, they lived in Rigby. After Jim’s passing, Frances volunteered at the Senior Center in Rigby. She was both a gifted artist and talented seamstress and we all have samples of her ceramic works. She was preceded in death by her parents, all three husbands, her sisters, Sister Kathleen Garvey, Joan Steele, Bernita Cuzzetto, Mary Genevieve McFarland and both her brothers, William Joseph Garvey, Jr and Father Roderick Garvey. She is survived by her children, Bonnie Barnard of Canby, OR, Chuck (Scarlett) of Midland, Texas, Paula (Larry) McGee of Atkins, Arkansas, David (Stephanie) of Rigby, ID and her stepson, Ed (Vickie) Hobbs of Boise, ID. Her sisters, Colleen Chase of Coeur d’Alene, ID and Rita (Don) Fitzpatrick of Spokane, WA. Seven grandchildren, Kathleen (Ron) Carpenter, Michael (Karna) Barnard, Kari Parnell, Aimee (Tony) Cole, Larry (Dana) McGee, Lyndi Hobbs and Justyn Hobbs; 12 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the wonderful people at Briarwood Assisted Living and Memory and Eden Home Health and Hospice for everything they have done. A private, family memorial will be held at a later date.
